Janis and Patti

We started Tween Club back in 2006. We had been searching in our community for a program aimed at developing self-esteem and self-confidence in pre-teen girls. As mothers, we had already seen some early warning signs.

Talking with other parents, we knew we weren’t alone. Unable to find a program for tween girls (aged 9-12) that combined physical, emotional and psychological wellness in a fun and comfortable atmosphere, we decided to develop our own.

We wanted a place where pre-teen girls would learn to embrace their unique beauty and become stronger and more self confident. We wanted to offer girls guidance and support as they entered this often difficult time of life. Thus, Tween Club was born.

Now in its fourth year, Tween Club helps empower girls, by providing them with enriching experiences and introducing them to local role models.

We encourage the girls to think beyond themselves. Each year, the girls organize a fundraiser for a cause they choose. One year, they raised money to pay for school fees for a girl in Africa.

We believe that more girls could benefit from a program like Tween Club. To share what we’ve learned, we’ve set up this blog to inspire others.
